What Gospel Fluency Sounds Like
Most of us grew up with a gospel that was mainly about the afterlife. Avoid hell. Get to heaven. Manage sin in the meantime. But quietly, you start to wonder — is this it? Is this all Jesus came to give us? It’s a fair question, and the answer might surprise you.
In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we’re going to unpack what it looks like to live with a bigger gospel — one that has something real to say about your marriage, your money, your identity, and your Tuesday afternoon. We call this Gospel Fluency. And it changes everything.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
- Why the gospel is good news for right now — not just the afterlife
- A simple 4-question process for applying the gospel to any situation
- How what you believe about God shapes how you see yourself
- What it looks like when discipleship becomes naturally good news

From this episode:
“When you have a bigger gospel you’ll develop the confidence and grace to speak the truth in love — first to yourself — and then with others in a way that is truly good news. Evangelism will no longer be a weird or stressful sales pitch and your discipleship with others will be supercharged with good news.”

The gospel is not about behavioral modification.
Caesar Kalinowski:God loves us, and like, like we've already just been saying, our sins have already been put away.
Caesar Kalinowski:They've already been paid for, and they're as far as the east is from the west.
Caesar Kalinowski:What God's concerned about now is relationship-
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: and that we believe what's true about Him, what He's done, and now what's true of us and our identity, so we have these privileges and we have this authority in life.
Heath Hollensbe:So disciplining our kids, so can you discipline your kids to get a behavioral modification out of them?
Heath Hollensbe:Lock them in their room, super long quiet time, spank the heck out of them, holler at them, scream them down, like send them away- Sure … in tears.
Heath Hollensbe:And, and will it affect their behavior?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:At least for a moment, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:At least for the moment, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Chances are it's coming back around again.
Caesar Kalinowski:Or could we discipline our kids with the goal of them understanding your heart for them-
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: and why what they've done maybe hurt you or hurt their sister or brother.
Heath Hollensbe:Sure.
Heath Hollensbe:And then what you're trying to ultimately have them understand is God's love for them, and that He's like a perfect daddy, I'm not, but that also breaks His heart, honey, when you talk that way- Yeah
Heath Hollensbe:or when you did this kind of thing, or when you lie, you know?
Heath Hollensbe:And, and here's why, because He's, He doesn't lie.
Heath Hollensbe:He's perfect, and He's made you in His image to be that way.
Heath Hollensbe:And so that's the, really the big deal, honey, is that when, when you're lying, you're not living out who you're created to be.
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm.
Heath Hollensbe:And, and I want you to know you don't have to hide or lie, 'cause Daddy loves you the same exactly.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And, and God loves you even more.
Heath Hollensbe:It's a whole different spin on
Caesar Kalinowski:it.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's a whole different spin
Heath Hollensbe:Welcome to the Everyday Disciple Podcast, where you'll learn how to live with greater intentionality and an integrated faith that naturally fits into every area of life.
Heath Hollensbe:In other words, discipleship as a lifestyle.
Heath Hollensbe:This is the stuff your parents, pastors, and seminary professors probably forgot to tell you.
Heath Hollensbe:And now, here's your host, Caesar Kalinowski.
Caesar Kalinowski:Hello, my brother Heath.
Caesar Kalinowski:You good, man?
Caesar Kalinowski:I am good.
Caesar Kalinowski:What's going on this week for you?
Heath Hollensbe:Not much.
Heath Hollensbe:Craziness of life and, and trying to love Jesus and-
Caesar Kalinowski:Didn't your car, like-
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah … take
Caesar Kalinowski:a dump and then just die on you?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah, hopefully we'll be able to maybe even have that conversation about my car issues later on in this podcast, because if we are talking about a bigger gospel today, maybe it does affect every
Caesar Kalinowski:aspect of life.
Caesar Kalinowski:Is the gospel big enough to have good news for your dead car?
Heath Hollensbe:Okay, so what is, what does a bigger gospel mean?
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay.
Caesar Kalinowski:So yeah, I, I started using this term bigger gospel because I, I realized in my own life, the way I was raised, is that, um, my understanding of the gospel was, like, this really little truncated message about a guy that had died on a cross 2,000 years ago.
Heath Hollensbe:Mm.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know, Jes- A
Heath Hollensbe:flannelgraph.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah, Jesus, you know, flannel there for Jesus.
Caesar Kalinowski:No, r- really, seriously, though, I mean, I believe that, and it's true.
Caesar Kalinowski:Um, but, um, if I believed that He died for me, accepted that- Right, and then put my faith in Him, um, then I, I would avoid hell and get to go to heaven
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm
Caesar Kalinowski:And that's the gospel.
Caesar Kalinowski:So then, you know, we'd share that and say, "Do you believe that? Do you wanna, do you wanna pray the Jesus in your heart prayer now?" You know, you know, like that prayer that Jesus never, ever prayed once in scripture.
Caesar Kalinowski:And so, um, I realize, like as I've grown now, it's like, wow, the gospel is so much bigger than that, though.
Caesar Kalinowski:Hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, it's not just good news about my afterlife- Yeah … which it's great to get to go to heaven, right, and spend eternity with, with God and Christ, and I'm very grateful for that.
Caesar Kalinowski:But is the gospel actually good news for now, for today, for our marriages- Hmm … for our jobs, for our c- parenting, for your car issues?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah,
Caesar Kalinowski:I hope.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know?
Caesar Kalinowski:And I … Y- yeah, it is actually.
Caesar Kalinowski:And, and so I realize we had too much of a small gospel.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, it was just too small, and, and it was way bigger than that.
Caesar Kalinowski:So I talk about ha- people needing to have a bigger gospel, me included, and that's what I mean by that.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:That's good, man.
Heath Hollensbe:So I read something that you wrote the other day, uh, as we're talking about a bigger gospel, and one of the, the things that you said was that every sin and issue that stands in the way of our faithfulness to God and His design and Jesus's commands is ultimately a gospel issue.
Heath Hollensbe:And this concept is a bit hard to understand.
Heath Hollensbe:Why is every sin an issue that stands in the way of that a gospel issue?
Heath Hollensbe:Okay.
Heath Hollensbe:Is it just about me messing up, or is it something bigger going on?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Well, that's a heavy question there, brother, right off the top.
Caesar Kalinowski:Um, so it's not just every sin is a gospel issue.
Caesar Kalinowski:Everything in life, I think, has the potential to be seen through the lens of the gospel, meaning God has created us in His image to be like Him, show the world what He's like.
Caesar Kalinowski:And, and how we believe and trust that and submit to that and His perfect rule and reign in our life- That, that, that happens in every area of life.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's not just like, did you sin or did you not?
Caesar Kalinowski:Did you tell the lie or did you not?
Caesar Kalinowski:You know.
Caesar Kalinowski:Mm-hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:You told a lie, you're going to hell.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's like, you know, it's like, so it includes sin, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:But it's, it's not just about sin.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know, I, I said before that God is not sitting in Heaven just flipped out about our sin problem.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know, he's just freaking out, "Oh my God," you know, "Caesar sinned this week," you know, or he had an- Heath had an impure thought.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's like, y- you know why He's not?
Caesar Kalinowski:Because He already sent His Son Jesus to die and pay the penalty- Mm … for those sins.
Caesar Kalinowski:And so in God's mind, according to Scripture, that's been put a- far away, as far as the east is from the west.
Caesar Kalinowski:He doesn't see them.
Caesar Kalinowski:He doesn't remember them anymore.
Caesar Kalinowski:Hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:So He's not sitting around freaking out about that.
Caesar Kalinowski:What He is concerned about, and what makes it a gospel issue is, is that we live our lives in light of what's true of Him.
Heath Hollensbe:Right.
Caesar Kalinowski:How He's proven that throughout all of history and, and really magnified by, you know, the life and death of His Son Jesus, and then resurrection.
Caesar Kalinowski:And then what's true of our identity because of that.
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's what He's concerned about.
Caesar Kalinowski:And so that's why I say, like, there's, you know, there's a gospel issue behind anything that stands in the way of our faithfulness to God's designs- Mm … and then Jesus' commands to go out and make other disciples and live the life that He now gives us to live, that we get to live.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:What's behind that?
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, lack of motivation, fear, stress, worry, uh, selfishness, self-love, all that stuff.
Caesar Kalinowski:Uh, the thing behind the thing behind the thing-
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: is a gospel issue.
Heath Hollensbe:It's meaning not believing what's actually true about God and what He's- Yeah … done, and so now what's true of me, so I get to live a new way.
Heath Hollensbe:That's why everything's got a gospel conne- issue connected to it.
Heath Hollensbe:Which is actually sort of freeing.
Heath Hollensbe:Even as you're talking there, I'm thinking about how often my view of, of the gospel or even what God is up to and is more about Him sitting up there keeping tally of sin management over my life, right?
Heath Hollensbe:Right.
Heath Hollensbe:And it's actually freeing to go, like-
Caesar Kalinowski:I mean, like, seriously, sitting here now, and, you know, even our listeners, like- Believe it.
Caesar Kalinowski:Mm. If you've put your faith and hope in Christ, and you accepted, you know, the exchange of His life in place of yours-
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: then every sin that you ever committed or will has been paid for, and the Father's accepted that.
Heath Hollensbe:We, we know that's true.
Heath Hollensbe:We know He accepted that payment- Sure … because Jesus rose from the dead, right?
Heath Hollensbe:So- Yeah … so now we don't live with this thought that, you know, God doesn't see you like, "Heath is the guy who used to do this, but I forgave him of that."
Heath Hollensbe:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:Or, you know, "Caesar used to be really critical of people, and he was really hard on his kids and whatever, but I forgave him of that-
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm
Caesar Kalinowski:because he said the right prayer." You know?
Caesar Kalinowski:So- … this is not how He sees us.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:See, all that stuff's been forgiven and put away, and now we get to live in light of the freedom of that and live a life w- the reason we were created, to show what His image is like, what He's really like-
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: by our trust, by our freedom, by our patience, by our love, our gentleness, all that stuff we get to, and it's the Gospel that frees us up to do that, that, that belief that really we are forgiven, that our Dad loves us dearly.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And we-
Heath Hollensbe:That is such good news, man.
Heath Hollensbe:It- That is actually the good news.
Caesar Kalinowski:So- So, so, like, a- are you a perfect parent?
Heath Hollensbe:No way.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay.
Caesar Kalinowski:But guess what?
Caesar Kalinowski:God loves you the exactly the
Heath Hollensbe:same.
Caesar Kalinowski:Mm. Because He, because He's already covered all that stuff.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:He's already-
Heath Hollensbe:My identity defines me rather than what I do.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And your identity comes from Him.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And He's perfect.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Isn't it?
Caesar Kalinowski:That's really
Heath Hollensbe:good news.
Heath Hollensbe:It's amazing, man.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's good news, man.
Heath Hollensbe:So, uh, one of the things that we try to do in this podcast is, like, the, you know, fusion of faith and life so that all of life is, is faith-based, and it's steeped- Yeah, it's not
Caesar Kalinowski:weirdly separated somehow.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:So, uh, how, for instance, would that… Like, if the Gospel is supposed to affect every area of our lives, how would it affect- Time management or news about my job or how I discipline my kids or, uh, it seems like it's really easy for me to wanna separate the gospel from those issues.
Heath Hollensbe:Um, but you're arguing that, that
Caesar Kalinowski:together-
Heath Hollensbe:Okay, so, yeah, so let's
Caesar Kalinowski:just grab one of those, discipline of our kids, okay?
Caesar Kalinowski:Um, so often, you know, I disciplined my kids because I was trying to modify their behavior.
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:Now, they may have been disobedient or they may not have been.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know, they might just been, not been doing what I wanted, or I wanted them to start doing something in a different way.
Heath Hollensbe:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:But one way or the other, if you think about it, discipline is, was about behavioral modification.
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right?
Caesar Kalinowski:But see, the gospel is not about behavioral modification.
Heath Hollensbe:Lock them in the room, super long quiet time, spank the heck out of them, holler at them, scream them down, like send them away- Sure … t- in tears.
Heath Hollensbe:And, and will it affect their behavior?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:At least for a moment, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:You know, at least for the moment, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:Chances are it's come back around again.
Heath Hollensbe:or when you did this kind of thing or when you lie, you know?
Heath Hollensbe:And, and here's why, because he's, he doesn't lie.
Heath Hollensbe:He's perfect, and he's made you in his image to be that way.
Heath Hollensbe:And so that's the really the big deal, honey, is that when, when you're lying, you're not living out who you're created to be.
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm.
Heath Hollensbe:And, and I want you to know you don't have to hide or lie 'cause Daddy loves you the same exactly.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And, and God loves you even more.
Heath Hollensbe:It's a whole different spin on
Caesar Kalinowski:it.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's a whole different spin.
Caesar Kalinowski:Now, there might be consequences to their action.
Caesar Kalinowski:S- so, "So you know what? For the next few days, you're not gonna be able to do X, Y, Z," you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Or, yeah, you know.
Caesar Kalinowski:There could be, there's, there's consequences often.
Heath Hollensbe:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:But done in l- done in, in light of the gospel, it has more to do with relationship and reaffirming the kid's identity-
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: in, in, because of who God is and what he's done for them.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Very, very different.
Heath Hollensbe:That's totally different.
Heath Hollensbe:I've had that conversation with my wife of, of law is able to set some parameters, but unless you're going for the heart, law is never gonna change heart, you know, 'cause there's always ways of wiggling out through it.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's right.
Caesar Kalinowski:So, so here's how we get at these thing, okay?
Heath Hollensbe:Okay.
Caesar Kalinowski:Um, I, I, I wrote a book that's just recently come out called Bigger Gospel.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay?
Caesar Kalinowski:I'll talk a little bit more about that later.
Caesar Kalinowski:I don't like to do giant commercials here, you know, on Life School.
Caesar Kalinowski:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:But I do like to pass on resources, and I work hard on these things, so I'm gonna at least share them.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay?
Caesar Kalinowski:Um, but in Bigger Gospel, um- Talk about a lot of things, try to expand our heads.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know, we ta- talk about a few, you know, things that we need to kinda like unlearn and some things we need to relearn.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:But at the core of that is trying to learn how to have a better gospel fluency, the ability to sort of speak and live and enjoy the gospel in any area of life.
Caesar Kalinowski:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's kinda what you're just asking me.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And so at the core of that, we do that by, by looking at four things, and I've kinda already run past them.
Caesar Kalinowski:You may not have caught them, but there's four questions that I, that I ask that will help us, like, go, "Well, what is the good news, and what's the gospel-
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm
Caesar Kalinowski:connected to any particular issue- Sure … you know, or action or a feeling or an emotion that you're experiencing?
Caesar Kalinowski:So here's the four questions.
Caesar Kalinowski:Who is God?
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay?
Caesar Kalinowski:So in light of any situation, we can ask, who is God?
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, what do we know to be true of His character?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:What's He like?
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay?
Caesar Kalinowski:Um, now, we can say those things, like God is loving, or He's generous, or He's all-knowing, or He's- Mm
Caesar Kalinowski:omnipotent, or He's gentle, or He's pursuing- Yeah … God, or He's a loving father.
Caesar Kalinowski:But can we prove that's true, like, in Scripture?
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, what's He done to prove that's really His character?
Heath Hollensbe:Mm.
Caesar Kalinowski:He's consistent in.
Caesar Kalinowski:So we can look through all of Scripture and be reminded.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's part of why we read the Word.
Caesar Kalinowski:Mm. It's not just for head knowledge.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's to be reminded of what's true of the Father.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right?
Caesar Kalinowski:And we can look at that, and we can also look at it, like, so, like, if we're saying, "Hey, He's generous," has He ever been generous in Scripture?
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, well, a zillion times, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Has He ever been generous in your life?
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, have you ever gotten something in life you just feel like, "I didn't even deserve that," but, like, God sorted it out.
Heath Hollensbe:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:Absolutely.
Caesar Kalinowski:A lot.
Caesar Kalinowski:So, so you can ask yourself that question.
Caesar Kalinowski:Then, in light of who He is and what He's done, given a situation, you can ask yourself, "Okay, so then what's, what's true of me-
Heath Hollensbe:Mm
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: because of that?" Like, and true of me, like, from an identity standpoint, a authority that we now have, we've been given in Christ-
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah
Caesar Kalinowski:or privilege.
Caesar Kalinowski:Because in the Kingdom, there's, there's, there's all of those.
Caesar Kalinowski:Mm. There's, there's identity, authority, and privilege.
Heath Hollensbe:Wow.
Caesar Kalinowski:And so, so then, in light of that, if we can believe what's true of us now-
Heath Hollensbe:Mm
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: well, how do we get to live?
Heath Hollensbe:Which is a very different question than how do we have to live.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Very different, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:So-
Heath Hollensbe:Those are great questions
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: maybe, I don't know, maybe we should apply that to something.
Heath Hollensbe:You want to?
Heath Hollensbe:Let's do it, man.
Heath Hollensbe:Should we try to spin one out?
Heath Hollensbe:I'm down.
Heath Hollensbe:Back to your car thing.
Heath Hollensbe:What do you think?
Heath Hollensbe:Let's do it.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, I mean, that seems like maybe, you know, people are saying, "No, no, no, apply it to, like, you know, world hunger or something," you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:It's like, I'm gonna go really just, here it is.
Caesar Kalinowski:I mean, like- Yeah … we were talking about this- My broken car … the other day.
Caesar Kalinowski:You were melting down, you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, a little bit, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Of course.
Caesar Kalinowski:But it's a real thing.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's a hassle.
Caesar Kalinowski:You're a dad.
Caesar Kalinowski:You, you know, you got kids and-
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: you, you know.
Heath Hollensbe:One income.
Heath Hollensbe:Okay.
Heath Hollensbe:Okay, so this is gonna seem really fast to our listeners, maybe even a little, like, too simple at first, and that's because, you know, we just got a few minutes here to unpack it.
Heath Hollensbe:But I'm gonna do that, and, and then I'll give them some tips on how they would a, go, go a little deeper in this.
Heath Hollensbe:But I think it'll give, it'll give them a little bit of an idea how we get a bigger gospel- Yeah
Heath Hollensbe:one that applies not just to, you know, getting a get out of hell card.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:But one- Seeing how these
Heath Hollensbe:questions actually
Caesar Kalinowski:affect- Yeah, so- … normal life s- So, so in light of, like, your car breaking down-
Heath Hollensbe:Yep
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: tell me a little bit about, like, what you were feeling about that.
Heath Hollensbe:And we had a conversation the other day.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:I could probably fill in the blanks, but what, like, you know.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah, I, I've got four kids.
Heath Hollensbe:I've got a wife.
Heath Hollensbe:Um, we've got a mortgage.
Heath Hollensbe:It's one income.
Heath Hollensbe:And we have worked super hard on paying off this car.
Heath Hollensbe:We finally paid it off, 14,000 bucks the other day, or a couple, about six months ago.
Heath Hollensbe:And, uh- It's a Nissan, it's g- yeah, 100,000 miles.
Heath Hollensbe:It's an, they should last forever.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:And we just were hit with an, you know, an $8,000-plus bill to have some motor- Oh my gosh … and stuff done.
Heath Hollensbe:Oh my gosh.
Heath Hollensbe:It's been a nightmare.
Heath Hollensbe:And, uh, and so I'm sitting here going, "We don't have 8,000. We, we worked hard because we wanted to not have a car payment for years, and now do we have to-" Right
Heath Hollensbe:"turn this thing in?" And then- Right … uh.
Caesar Kalinowski:You were pretty stressed, man, when I
Heath Hollensbe:talked to you.
Heath Hollensbe:Dude, I was freaking out, yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:I
Caesar Kalinowski:mean, really.
Caesar Kalinowski:You're like under a blanket, you know?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:You know?
Heath Hollensbe:You know, and, and I think I knew, in the back of my head, I know of God's attributes In concept and in theory, but how that-
Caesar Kalinowski:Let's walk through the four questions- Yeah
Caesar Kalinowski:in light of that.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like I said, this is gonna seem a little quick.
Heath Hollensbe:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:And if, if we had a whiteboard and I was, you know, or a napkin out in front of us with friends, you know- Yeah … we're sitting around, you know, just hanging out, we could really go deep into this.
Caesar Kalinowski:But I think we'll still get an idea, and hopefully it'll, it'll, it'll even apply the gospel to your car issue a little bit for you.
Caesar Kalinowski:So first question.
Caesar Kalinowski:Let's do it.
Caesar Kalinowski:So in light of you kinda stressing out, like where are we gonna get money for that, you know, oh my gosh, you know- Yeah … like the car is broke, and my second car is just, like, limping, you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah, for sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:Um, what do we know to be true of God?
Caesar Kalinowski:Like just any attribute of His that you, you know, from, from Bible knowledge, you know- Yeah
Caesar Kalinowski:or, or, or what, what… Just anything at all related to that.
Caesar Kalinowski:I think- What do we know about Him?
Heath Hollensbe:There's a few that pop up in my mind immediately.
Heath Hollensbe:One is that, uh, He's good.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay.
Heath Hollensbe:He's always been good-
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay
Caesar Kalinowski:… Heath Hollensbe: even when we didn't deserve it.
Caesar Kalinowski:I mean…
Caesar Kalinowski:He's a, He's a good God.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay.
Caesar Kalinowski:Absolutely.
Caesar Kalinowski:So even though your car is dead, He, He's, He's a good God.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's true of Him.
Caesar Kalinowski:Mm-hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay, what else is true of God?
Heath Hollensbe:Uh, that He's, um, intimately aware of us.
Heath Hollensbe:Like He knows what's going on with,
Caesar Kalinowski:uh-
Heath Hollensbe:He knows … my car.
Caesar Kalinowski:He knows.
Caesar Kalinowski:No surprise.
Caesar Kalinowski:Oh, car broke.
Caesar Kalinowski:Uh, that one t- caught me off guard.
Caesar Kalinowski:I was running the world over here, but forgot about your car, man.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:Okay.
Heath Hollensbe:No, He, He knows the details of my family.
Heath Hollensbe:He's caring.
Heath Hollensbe:He's a, He's a provider, I know that.
Heath Hollensbe:Like, He's never left us sleeping under a bridge and-
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah
Caesar Kalinowski:… Heath Hollensbe: with my kids.
Caesar Kalinowski:He's, He's always, when things seem hopeless- In fact, He's- … He's always pulled through
Caesar Kalinowski:… Caesar Kalinowski: in fact, He's generous, isn't He?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:He's not a God of, like, meh, there it is, you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:But it's like He's actually a generous father, right?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah, way more than I
Caesar Kalinowski:deserve.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay.
Caesar Kalinowski:So we could keep going of things that are true about God in light of your broken car, but those are some good ones, that He's good.
Caesar Kalinowski:He knows your needs.
Caesar Kalinowski:Mm. He, He knew before it even happened.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right?
Caesar Kalinowski:He's, He's a good provider.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:He's a- Generous … loving, generous dad.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay.
Caesar Kalinowski:So tho- those are some good things to be reminded of when, "What? $8,000?" You know, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay.
Caesar Kalinowski:So second, so that's what is, what do we know to be true of God.
Caesar Kalinowski:Secondly, where have we seen that proven to be true?
Caesar Kalinowski:And so, so it's like is that just niceties- Hmm … or can we actually point to stuff in Scripture that goes, no, that's, that's how He was.
Caesar Kalinowski:Where, where have we seen God be good?
Heath Hollensbe:Well, I mean, I think it starts in, in Eden.
Heath Hollensbe:Adam and Eve walk away, and God instantly jumps in and starts pursuing them.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:They've just sinned against God.
Caesar Kalinowski:They've disobeyed Him, right?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Eaten of the fruit He said don't do.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's gonna kill you.
Caesar Kalinowski:And immediately He goes looking for 'em.
Heath Hollensbe:Mm-hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:Where are you, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And He clothes them.
Caesar Kalinowski:So, so He's good, and He still provides for them.
Caesar Kalinowski:Even when they're like middle finger to God, basically Yeah,
Heath Hollensbe:absolutely.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right?
Caesar Kalinowski:So that's, there's, there's one.
Caesar Kalinowski:Um, I think of stuff like with the Israelites.
Heath Hollensbe:Mm-hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Over and over and over, God is good, and he's a good provider for them.
Caesar Kalinowski:And you think of- Food every
Heath Hollensbe:day.
Caesar Kalinowski:Manna.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, what, what?
Caesar Kalinowski:It just falls down.
Caesar Kalinowski:"Be out there tomorrow?" "It'll be out there tomorrow," you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:"Yeah, we're sick of this. We'd like some meat." Boom, here's a trillion quail, or, you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:But like, "We're s- we're thirsty," and like b- a rock, you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:I mean, it's like- Yeah
Caesar Kalinowski:but the, but there was zillions of those.
Caesar Kalinowski:It was 40 years of provision in that, in that way.
Caesar Kalinowski:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:In all kinds of things.
Caesar Kalinowski:In battle, in wars, in fear, in all that, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Mm-hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:And we could, we could list so many things where has God been good or generous.
Caesar Kalinowski:Culminating in Jesus.
Caesar Kalinowski:All-knowing.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right?
Caesar Kalinowski:That's a big one.
Caesar Kalinowski:See, and that's what we're gonna get to in a second.
Caesar Kalinowski:How about in your own life?
Caesar Kalinowski:Where have you seen… Like, where can you recall, like, "Man, we were in super great need." Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, we didn't, we didn't have any idea how we're gonna pay this bill, pay the rent, pay the mortgage, uh, fix this, help the kids with that, I mean, and, and then God showed up.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah, I mean, uh, I referenced it a couple, um, episodes back about we had gone through some, some job stuff, and I, it was right after a move here, and somebody stepped in and provided 1,600 bucks as a, as a help to us that when we thought there was no way we're gonna be able to make this happen, it was generous, I think.
Caesar Kalinowski:So why do you attribute that to God as having been generous when it came from a person?
Heath Hollensbe:Because it was from a follower of Jesus who was trying to live in light of the gospel in our situation.
Heath Hollensbe:Mm. Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:It was part of the community that he had given us that said, "We're gonna walk through this thing together."
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Uh, how, any other areas of your life where God's been good, taking care of you- Constantly … shown you goodness?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah, you know, for years I had toured with different bands and, uh, you know, in that industry you pick up a couple tours and then there's dry season, and we had never missed a mortgage payment.
Heath Hollensbe:We'd, uh, we- I've seen
Caesar Kalinowski:your kids.
Caesar Kalinowski:They look healthy.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:They're
Heath Hollensbe:clothed.
Heath Hollensbe:Family's healthy.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:We're n- yeah, we're doing all right.
Caesar Kalinowski:Couple of them could use some haircuts, but
Heath Hollensbe:I give them their haircuts.
Heath Hollensbe:That's, that's the issue.
Heath Hollensbe:But, uh, yeah, I mean, he's never-
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:So he meets our needs, doesn't he?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah, every time.
Caesar Kalinowski:And we can look
Heath Hollensbe:at,
Caesar Kalinowski:we can look through all of scripture, we can look through our lives, and in the end, if we were sitting right now in a circle of friends, and I'm sure those listening would go like, "Oh, I got so many stories of where God's been good- Yeah … and he's been generous, and he's cared for us, and he's met our needs.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's like he knew they existed," you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, sometimes we don't even pray and God just shows up, right, and he blesses us.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah, absolutely.
Caesar Kalinowski:Now, you were starting to go there.
Caesar Kalinowski:Here's the, here's the other thing.
Caesar Kalinowski:We go, how has God proved those things to be true of him?
Caesar Kalinowski:When we look at Christ and we look at the cross.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:I mean, that is the greatest picture, Heath-
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: of a God who is not w- not gonna hold back his best to bless us, to bless you-
Heath Hollensbe:Mm
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: personally, me, your wife, your kids.
Heath Hollensbe:Sure.
Heath Hollensbe:When he sends his own Son to lay his life down to, to pay the price for all of our muck, for all of our rebellion, for all of our sin, that we might be forgiven and restored back to a right, close relationship with him, you know?
Heath Hollensbe:That's amazing.
Heath Hollensbe:Right?
Heath Hollensbe:So a God that would do that, is that a God that's gonna go like, "Well, you're never gonna have a car again."
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know?
Caesar Kalinowski:No way.
Caesar Kalinowski:"You're just gonna be dragging your kids, you know, under the bridges and, you know, over the highways and having to hitchhike." You know what I mean?
Heath Hollensbe:No.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Not happening.
Caesar Kalinowski:'Cause he's proven, he's proven his love for you, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:In, in, in the biggest of ways.
Caesar Kalinowski:Now- Who is God?
Caesar Kalinowski:What's he done?
Caesar Kalinowski:We just talked about different ways it's proved.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:He's proven it.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's already starting to sound like better news, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Absolutely.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, the car thing is getting a little smaller.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know what I mean?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:It still sucks.
Caesar Kalinowski:Still need a car.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know what I mean?
Caesar Kalinowski:But, but it's like, whoa, okay, God is this way.
Caesar Kalinowski:This is true of him, and he's proven it over and over throughout history, through your life, magnified at the cross.
Heath Hollensbe:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:Third question, what's true of you then and your family- Yeah
Caesar Kalinowski:because of who he is and what he's proven?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah, I mean, I think initially I go to, like What's true of us because of what He's proven is that we're His family.
Heath Hollensbe:We're His kids.
Heath Hollensbe:He-
Caesar Kalinowski:You're His
Heath Hollensbe:kids … we- we're adopted into His family.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's it, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:He sees you as sons and daughters, right?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And what did you do to earn that?
Heath Hollensbe:Nothing.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah, Jesus earned it- Jesus did it,
Heath Hollensbe:yeah
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: didn't He?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah, that's crazy, right?
Heath Hollensbe:So that's true of you.
Heath Hollensbe:You're His dearly loved sons and daughters.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:We know He's a good God, so how's He gonna treat His sons, daughters?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:Uh-huh.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah, take care of them.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:What else m- comes to mind?
Caesar Kalinowski:What's true of you?
Caesar Kalinowski:Authority, privilege.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah, I mean, um-
Caesar Kalinowski:Identity, yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:My, I think the identity aspect is that we don't have to … What's true of us is He says, "Hey, take time at night and rest because I'm working all things out." Like, I'm, I'm on it.
Heath Hollensbe:Okay.
Heath Hollensbe:You don't have to stress about-
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah, so you could, you could choose to freak out over the car-
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah
Caesar Kalinowski:or you can not freak out and trust Me that I- I got you.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:I got this.
Caesar Kalinowski:I am generous.
Caesar Kalinowski:I do own the cattle on a thousand hill, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:I own it all, and I can sort it out in My time, and I … Right?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah,
Caesar Kalinowski:absolutely.
Caesar Kalinowski:You get to rest.
Caesar Kalinowski:You get to rest.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's true of you.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And so, so that, that's kinda leaning into that fourth question is so how do you get to respond?
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:So, like, you, you can choose to freak out, but in light of what's true of God, His goodness, His generosity, that He knows your needs- Yeah … that He's your Father and He loves you.
Caesar Kalinowski:He's proven that, magnified at the cross, and He sees you as a dearly loved son and daughter, that you, you have the rights of an heir.
Heath Hollensbe:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:How do you get to respond to that?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah, by not freaking out.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, you, you could choose to, but, but see how you don't need to.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like-
Heath Hollensbe:It kinda reminds me even as we're talking about how, like, just the irrational fears of my kids, you know, where it's like they're freaking out that something's gonna get them in the middle of the night, or something is- Right
Heath Hollensbe:and I, and I'm able, is wiser than them in the situation to go like, "Hey, don't … Like, you don't have to freak out here.
Heath Hollensbe:Just relax.
Heath Hollensbe:You're good.
Heath Hollensbe:Get
Caesar Kalinowski:a good night's sleep." You, and see, there's a s- there's a process here that helps move our heart towards the Gospel.
Heath Hollensbe:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:That because of who God is and what He's done ultimately in and through Christ, we get to respond differently.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:We get to be reminded that He will meet that need, that I might not see it.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know?
Caesar Kalinowski:When I was young and rebellious, and even still while I'm sinning against God, I might not see that provision, but He had already provided for it at the cross, right?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:He's already provided.
Caesar Kalinowski:I, I'm just gonna guess that someday little Nile will sit on the podcast, you got a different vehicle-
Caesar Kalinowski:or you got that 8,000 bucks or something, right?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:He will sort it.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:He'll do it.
Caesar Kalinowski:He'll probably use other people to do it.
Caesar Kalinowski:He'll do it in miraculous ways.
Caesar Kalinowski:But so now you can choose, you get to choose to live in light of I'm an heir.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:My dad's gonna cover this.
Heath Hollensbe:Well, and I, and I'm seeing even in this, asking these four questions just in this instance about I'm seeing how many times throughout my life and throughout my day I can apply these same four questions to almost every aspect, a fight with my wife or, or my wife coming stressed out about bills or stressed out about how our kid's gonna turn out or stressing out how
Caesar Kalinowski:And, and we t- and we tend to think like, "Well, so I believe this is all true, so I better now go do X, Y, Z-
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm
Caesar Kalinowski:so that I earn this from God."
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And- It's not the case at all … see, and that's what the, that's what the four questions show us, is like no, this is how he is and how he rolls.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And he's proven it, and this is true of you now, so you actually don't have to freak out or earn it or, you know, do the right things as a dad.
Caesar Kalinowski:So you're like, "If I holler at my wife, or if I, I don't get my quiet time next week, my, uh, we're gonna have a dead van," you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:The car's gonna… We're not gonna get a new car here, so, you know.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's just ridiculous.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's not the God that we just talked about.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's not how he shows himself and reveals himself.
Heath Hollensbe:Dude, that's amazing.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's really good news, right?
Heath Hollensbe:It's such good news.
Caesar Kalinowski:It really is.
Caesar Kalinowski:So, so hopefully that gives, you know, you and others listening a little quick idea of how we can learn to grow in our, well, like what I said earlier, gospel fluency.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:The ability to sort of see and speak and experience, like live out the gospel in every area of life, and that can be applied to anything.
Caesar Kalinowski:And by the way, you know, and I, and I go deep into this in, in, in the Bigger Gospel book, and I got a little mini course people can even get that helps them learn how to do this stuff.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know?
Caesar Kalinowski:You can go the other direction, too.
Caesar Kalinowski:I freaked out in this situation.
Caesar Kalinowski:Hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's how I acted What is true of me that I was forgetting?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And how do I know that's true based on what's God's done?
Caesar Kalinowski:Because it's just true of His character.
Caesar Kalinowski:So we can go f- either way with the questions.
Heath Hollensbe:That's really
Caesar Kalinowski:cool.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah, maybe we'll do it in another episode, but, but it can go either way, and it's amazing.
Caesar Kalinowski:And like I said, that's what we call gospel fluency.
Caesar Kalinowski:And, and, and, and you know what?
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, just like we got to do this, even though we just- Yeah … took a couple minutes to do it, it's really important that, that we begin to cultivate families and communities and churches full of gospel-fluent people.
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:Can you imagine when this is normative, that, like, with all the stuff that goes on in life, good things, bad things, sin, 'cause this isn't just about negative stuff, by the way.
Caesar Kalinowski:Something great goes on in your life, it's like, "Why, why did that happen?" You know why?
Caesar Kalinowski:That's good.
Caesar Kalinowski:'Cause God's this way.
Caesar Kalinowski:In general.
Caesar Kalinowski:And look how He's proven it, and isn't it, isn't it amazing how- Yeah … how He's, like, we get to live now.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know, that's worship.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's w- that's where worship comes from.
Caesar Kalinowski:And so, um, it's really important to begin to learn a gospel fluency- Hmm … and then start to cultivate a community of that.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like I said, be it your family, maybe your missional community, small group, or how about a whole church?
Caesar Kalinowski:Imagine a whole church of people-
Heath Hollensbe:Talking like that
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: that could, that could connect the good news to any area of life.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:And
Caesar Kalinowski:then- Well, it'd be
Heath Hollensbe:amazing
Heath Hollensbe:… Caesar Kalinowski: and that, and that begins to trickle down, too, so then all of a sudden our, quote, "evangelism"- Mm-hmm … like when we're talking to others about our faith, that's how they're hearing about it.
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, "Hey, Heath, I heard your van, like, you know, took a dump instead." And you're like, "Yeah."
Caesar Kalinowski:"Are you freaking out, man?" You're like, "You know, what's going on?
Caesar Kalinowski:How are you guys gon…" And you're able to then say, "Well, you know, I started freaking out, but then I remembered this is true- Yeah … of, of our God.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know, we're believers, and so, like, I had to just stop for a second and go, 'What do I believe?' You know?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And it, that's way different than like, "Yeah, well, you, are you freaking out?
Caesar Kalinowski:Your van's broken down?
Caesar Kalinowski:I don't know.
Caesar Kalinowski:Why don't you come to church Sunday with me?" You know?
Heath Hollensbe:It sucks.
Heath Hollensbe:I'll pray for you.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Or that, yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:So-
Heath Hollensbe:It's an identity thing that I need to hear every day 'cause I forget it, right?
Heath Hollensbe:And I, I don't believe it, and I need people in my life pressing it- Yeah … into me.
Caesar Kalinowski:Right, and what we unpacked, it's not like, "Oh, I didn't know those things," you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:"I never knew God was generous God." You know, it's, uh, whatever.
Heath Hollensbe:It's just a refocusing.
Caesar Kalinowski:You, it's a refocusing back on what's true of God, what He's done, what's now true of us.
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:So now we get to choose a different response, and I think that's at the, that's at the core, that's at the heart of what it means to be saved.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's not just getting to go to heaven and float around on a, you know, a cloud or with a harp or some- … whatever people think it is, you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's the, it's, it's, it's now getting to live in light of the good news.
Caesar Kalinowski:You, Jesus said the gospel, the kingdom has come.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Now live in it, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And so we get to But we don't know how to.
Caesar Kalinowski:We're not that f- we have a very small gospel- Yeah … like we started out talking about today.
Caesar Kalinowski:So anyways- But that's- I think we're about running out of time here, so … my time's up, and
Heath Hollensbe:we always give away our free takeaways, the big three of the week.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know what?
Caesar Kalinowski:And I'm gonna give you the big three.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay, that's the big three takeaways real quick.
Caesar Kalinowski:Um, and I wanna let people know, like, you can tell them where they can get the big three, but I wanna add something to the big three this week, okay?
Heath Hollensbe:Cool.
Caesar Kalinowski:I'm gonna send them information on how they can, you know, if they choose to, they can get, they can get my Bigger Gospel book.
Caesar Kalinowski:We really unpack all this, but a whole bunch of other stuff, too, like really blow your gospel up.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's super good news, okay?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:And even some information on if you wanna take a little mini course in this online.
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:That'd be great.
Caesar Kalinowski:That'll be in there, too.
Caesar Kalinowski:But we'll give you the big three, give you that information, and why don't you tell them how they can get that?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Heath Hollensbe:All you have to do is go to everydaydisciple.com/bigthree, and you're gonna get that stuff immediately.
Heath Hollensbe:Caesar, what would you say the big three are for this week?
Caesar Kalinowski:The gospel is good news for every area of life.
Caesar Kalinowski:I want people to believe that.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's not just good news about our afterlife.
Heath Hollensbe:Yep.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay?
Caesar Kalinowski:Christianity is not just about avoiding hell and going to heaven, and then sort of in the meantime, between now and then, it's about sin management and behavior modification.
Heath Hollensbe:Hmm.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's big.
Caesar Kalinowski:I mean, that's- Yeah … changed and is changing my life, 'cause I grew up with so much of my life, it was just, it was about getting to heaven, and it was about behavioral modification.
Heath Hollensbe:Me too,
Caesar Kalinowski:man.
Caesar Kalinowski:Stop doing that, start doing this, you know?
Heath Hollensbe:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:So that's not true.
Caesar Kalinowski:It's w- it's good news for every area of life, okay?
Caesar Kalinowski:Second, God now sees you sees us as His dearly loved sons and daughters.
Heath Hollensbe:Mm.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay?
Caesar Kalinowski:Like, w- if we're in Christ, we, we don't have to perform or act a certain way to earn His love.
Caesar Kalinowski:So you're like, "Oh, if I don't go to church Sunday, I'm not gonna get a new van," or whatever, you know?
Caesar Kalinowski:Sure.
Caesar Kalinowski:Or whatever.
Caesar Kalinowski:Kids aren't … Kid's sick.
Caesar Kalinowski:You know, I want the kid to be better, so I better have quiet time this week or … It's goofy, right?
Caesar Kalinowski:Yeah.
Caesar Kalinowski:Okay, you can't earn His love.
Caesar Kalinowski:We already have it because of what Jesus has done.
Caesar Kalinowski:Believe what God says is true of you.
Heath Hollensbe:Mm.
Caesar Kalinowski:You're His dearly loved son and daughter.
Heath Hollensbe:Such good news.
Caesar Kalinowski:Wow.
Caesar Kalinowski:And three, um, when you grow in your gospel fluency, and that's that ability to speak and live and enjoy the gospel in every area of life, you're gonna be set free from so much baggage.
Heath Hollensbe:Mm.
Caesar Kalinowski:You start to believe a bigger gospel, one that touches all of life, and, and you can grow in that.
Caesar Kalinowski:Like I said, you gotta work on that, but we can help you grow in that.
Caesar Kalinowski:A- and, and, and you're gonna get set free, and you're also … You know what?
Caesar Kalinowski:You'll no longer fear being rejected when you try to share the good news with people.
Caesar Kalinowski:Mm. Like, when you see it and taste it, and it's like, it's just kinda leaking out in all of your life, it's gonna, people are gonna pick up on it, and you're gonna know how to articulate it in a way that actually sounds like good news, which means now you're not gonna fear the rejection 'cause it's not like, "Hey, I'm gonna hammer them."
Caesar Kalinowski:Mm. "They should stop doing that.
Caesar Kalinowski:That's a sin.
Caesar Kalinowski:Stop doing that." "Go to church with me.
Caesar Kalinowski:God's gonna not be happy unless you, you know, stop this or start doing that." Sure.
